T&G Tree Service (ABN 52 655 685 760) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information we collect and hold. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store and protect personal information when you visit our website or interact with us.
T&G Tree Service is an arborist and tree services (including tree removal, pruning, stump grinding, land clearing, arborist reports and garden maintenance) business operating in the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, the Lower Hunter, Port Stephens and Hornsby, New South Wales. You can contact us using the details in Section 17.
This Privacy Policy has been prepared with regard to the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Many small businesses (generally those with an annual turnover of $3 million or less) are exempt from the Privacy Act. Where that exemption applies to us, we have nonetheless chosen to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles as a matter of good practice. A small number of activities remove the small-business exemption regardless of turnover — for example, trading in personal information for a benefit, or providing health-related services. This won’t apply to most trade businesses, but if it applies to T&G Tree Service, this policy applies to us as a legal requirement rather than a voluntary standard.
The type of personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us. We may collect: your name; email address and phone number; postal or project/job site address; information you provide when making an enquiry or requesting a quote; details about your project or the services you are interested in; information contained in communications you send to us (email, phone, SMS, contact form); and any other information you voluntarily provide to us.
We may also collect technical information when you visit our website, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, referring website, pages visited and how you interact with our website.
Where practicable, you may interact with us anonymously or using a pseudonym. However, in some circumstances we may not be able to provide a quote, respond to an enquiry, or deliver services unless you provide the information we require.
We may collect personal information directly from you when you: submit an enquiry or request a quote through our website; contact us by phone, email, SMS or other means; engage us to provide services; communicate with us about a job or project; subscribe to communications or marketing, where applicable; or interact with our website.
We may also collect information automatically through cookies and analytics tools (see our Cookie Policy), and through the software and service providers we use to run our business (for example, website hosting, job-management or booking software, and payment or invoicing providers).
In some circumstances, we may receive personal information from third parties where permitted by law (for example, a referral from another tradesperson or a property manager acting on your behalf).
We may collect, hold, use and disclose personal information to: respond to enquiries and requests; prepare quotations and proposals; provide and manage our services, including scheduling and site access; communicate with you about your project; manage our business relationship with you; improve our website, services and customer experience; maintain the security and functionality of our website; manage payments and invoicing, where applicable; send marketing communications where permitted and where you have consented, or where otherwise permitted by law; comply with our legal and regulatory obligations; protect our rights, property and business; deal with complaints, disputes or enquiries; and for any other purpose you would reasonably expect, or that is otherwise permitted or required by law.
With your consent, we may photograph completed work (including before-and-after images) and use these, along with any reviews or testimonials you provide, on our website, social media and marketing materials. We will avoid including identifying details such as your address or other personal information in these images or posts unless you have separately agreed to this. You can withdraw consent for future use of your photo, review or testimonial at any time by contacting us — we will remove it from future use as soon as reasonably practicable, noting that copies already shared or cached elsewhere (such as social media platforms or search engine caches) may not be immediately removable.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose personal information to third parties where reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including: service providers who assist us in operating our business (e.g. our website host and the tools mentioned in Section 4); website analytics and marketing providers; email, SMS and communication service providers; payment or invoicing service providers, where applicable; professional advisers such as accountants, lawyers and insurers; subcontractors or suppliers involved in providing our services; and government agencies, regulators or law enforcement bodies where required or authorised by law. We take reasonable steps to ensure that third parties handling personal information on our behalf manage that information appropriately.
Some of the third-party service providers we use may be located outside Australia, or may store or process information outside Australia — commonly the United States, where many hosting, CRM and analytics providers operate. Where relevant, we take reasonable steps to ensure overseas handling of personal information is consistent with the privacy standards described in this policy.
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to enable functionality, remember preferences, understand website traffic and support marketing activities, including through third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics. Full details are set out in our Cookie Policy. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect some website functionality.
We may use your personal information to send you information about our services, offers or updates where permitted by law, including the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) for email and SMS marketing, and the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth) for telemarketing calls. Where required, we will only send marketing communications with your consent. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe option in the communication, or by contacting us using the details in Section 17. We will process your request within a reasonable period.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Depending on the nature of the information, security measures may include secure website hosting, access controls, password protection, security monitoring, malware scanning, and limiting access to authorised persons. However, no method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted to or stored by us.
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes it was collected, to provide our services, maintain business records (including for tax and warranty purposes), comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or as otherwise required or permitted by law. When personal information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify it.
You may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you, free of charge, by contacting us using the details in Section 17. We will respond within a reasonable period. In some circumstances we may be unable to provide access where an exception under applicable law applies, and we will explain the reasons where permitted.
If you believe T&G Tree Service has handled your personal information in a way that does not align with this Privacy Policy, you may contact us with details of your concern. We will acknowledge and investigate the complaint and take reasonable steps to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), noting that the Privacy Act may not directly apply to our business given its size (see Section 2).
Our website may contain links to websites operated by third parties. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content or security of third-party websites, and recommend reviewing their privacy policies before providing personal information.
Our website and services are intended for individuals aged 18 years and older and are not directed towards children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
If we become aware of a data breach involving personal information, we will assess and respond appropriately and, where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme applies to us, act in accordance with those obligations.
