Arborist or Tree Lopper – Which One Should I Hire?

Anyone can lop a tree. Lopping refers to indiscriminate hacking of a tree with no respect for the trees health, tree safety or for the customer.

Lopping a tree creates a wound which will inevitably be detrimental to a trees long term health. It is also unsightly and the new growth that forms after lopping has a weak attachment to the trunk, which will ultimately fail in windy conditions or when the growth becomes too heavy.

An Arborist on the other hand is someone who is trained and qualified in tree care and maintenance. Think of an Arborist as a qualified professional akin to a qualified mechanic or builder and ask yourself, would you let an unqualified mechanic replace the brakes on your car? Or an unqualified builder build you a home? Or an unqualified electrician wire up your  kitchen? No? Then why let an unqualified tree lopper work on your tree?

Whether you are looking at tree pruning or tree removal, a qualified arborist is always the best option.

A large tree weighs many tonnes, often hanging over or, in close proximity to your home. A strong healthy tree near your home is much safer than a poorly maintained one!
