Benefits of Trees – Biophilia

Being in nature is better for our health than we know. Exposure to natural light, breathing in organic compounds from forests and having a view of greenery or natural horizons, affects hormones, glucose levels, and chemical balances in our body and brain in a positive way. The way nature affects our bodies naturally reduces stress, increases attention span, and gives us more energy. At the end of the day this makes us more productive and happy people. The term for this is “Biophilia”.

Biophilia is a term that has come into use in the 1980s by an American biologist Edward O.Wilson “The concept of biophilia implies that humans hold a biological need for connection with nature on physical, mental, and social levels, and that this connection affects our personal well-being, productivity, and societal relationships.

Whether one is engaging with nature by walking through a park, by interacting with animals, or simply by having a view of greenery from one’s home or place of work, biophilia has many applications that help transform mundane settings into stimulating environments.” *
